Clear Blue Hawaii was incorporated in March 2001 in Honolulu,
Hawaii. The idea of a transparent kayak evolved out of a military
shallow water surveillance watercraft project in May of 2000
and lead to the engineering of the Molokini prototype. After
successful testing, the Molokini was introduced as the first
two-person clear kayak to the market in May 2001 and became
an immediate success. In late 2003, the Hanauma, an inflatable
kayak with a transparent bottom, was introduced and is adding
to the success of the company, while around the same time, our
current top model Napali - the only transparent, foldable kayak
in the world - was developed, tested and marketed.
All of our kayaks have received huge public attention due to
their innovative and unique nature. There is many company milestones
that show/display this wide public interest.
In the area of consumer impressions, Clear Blue Hawaii has recieved
over 100 million. The company has been featured by major TV
shows such as the Today Show, Fox & Friends & over 40
publications worldwide.
Most recently one of the companies products the Napali has been
nominated for the Sports Product of the Year award
held by the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA).
This program is the Academy Award of the sporting goods industry
and elects the latest and most outstanding sports products in
the world, focusing on the aspects technology, fashion, innovation,
utility, fun, performance, function, lifestyle and marketability
of new products.
In addition to making the final round in the SGMA competition,
the Napali has recently also received praise from Time Magazine
as well as Fortune magazine, who nominated the kayak to be one
of the 25 best products in 2003 (Fortune) and among the
coolest inventions 2003 (Time Magazine).
What has been accomplished in the engineering of the Napali
is a new, fully versatile breed of kayak that is exceptional
from any perspective. Clarity is its core, intelligent design
its gift. It is not without a cause that the Museum of Modern
Art in NYC decided to feature the Napali as a permanent piece
of exhibition starting in Fall 2004.
IIn addition, the Molokini, our companys first model to
hit the market, was featured in General Electrics exhibition
for their 50th anniversary of the material Lexan and displayed
in the Chicago plastics show next to famous astronaut Buz Aldrins
space helmet. Another display of the Molokini is the major Hollywood
blockbuster, kids spy movie agent Cody Banks: Destination
London by Metro Goldwyn Mayer, where the Molokini
is used in the secret agents training camp as high tech
surveillance equipment and is viewed by millions of spectators
worldwide.
In spring 2004, the company diversified into travel bags/adventure
travel gear and prototyped a series of innovative new products
that are to hit the marketplace shortly. In addition, Clear
Blues R&D team is currently developing prototypes
of unprecedented travel gear that is unfortunately still top
secret at this point in time.
