CLEAR BLUE HAWAII INFLATABLE BOATS FAQ’s

What are the hulls made out of?
The hull skin material is made out of MachArmor™ a high tenacity taurpolin material designed for abuse.

What are the decks made out of?
The decks are either made out of MachArmor™ or AeroFiber Core™. If the description says AeroFiber Core™. it means that the flooring is made out of drop stitched material. Drop stitched material are vertical fibers that adhere to both the top and bottom portions of the MachArmor™ material. These fibers then allow the MachArmor™ material to be inflated to a higher PSI making the flooring extremely rigid.

Do we also offer transparent windows with our inflatable boats?
Yes, some boat models do have transparent windows. The viewing panel is made out of the same material we make our Molokini Two Passenger Clear Kayak out of, it is Polycarbonate. The same material used in fighter jet canopies, submarine portals, and bullet proof glass.

Will the polycarbonate window scratch and do scratches affect the visibility?
The polycarbonate window will scratch yet when placed into the water the water fills in the scratches. The effects are very similar to a dive mask. Even extreme tests over coral masses, barnacles and lava rocks have yielded low visibility loss. The polycarbonate windows are embedded in products used by tour operators worldwide who have groups of people in and out of the water on a daily basis. Although rental operations are extreme conditions, in this type of environment the products are in use for many years before having to be replaced.

How impact resistant is polycarbonate?
Polycarbonate, is the same material used on fighter jet canopies, submarine viewing ports and bulletproof glass. A video example of polycarbonate strength can be viewed on our website.

How stable are the inflatable boats?

Can Clear Blue Hawaii Inflatable boats be used by a novice boater?
Motorized boats should be operated by boaters who have experience.

How well do the inflatable boats track?
The boats track very well, each boat comes with a dual system which help keep the boats tracking efficiently.

How well do the inflatable boats handle the UV rays of the Sun?
All our boats come with StableMax™ UV Inhibitor Protection.

What are the inflatable boat Lead Times?
The standard lead times are 4 weeks.

How do the inflatable boats ship?
Our inflatable boats ship mostly via ocean unless a client needs them for quick evaluation purposes, in this case we can ship via Air. Although since they compact nicely in some cases when shipping low volume it makes sense to ship via Air instead of ocean.

How many inflatable boats come inside a Master Pack?
1 unit per master pack.

How is the shipping handled?
There are three possible scenarios:

  • SCENARIO 1: The customer uses their own freight forwarder and sends their carrier to our factory to pick up the goods. This is what is called “Exworks”.
  • SCENARIO 2: We place the customer direct in touch with our freight forwarder, in this scenario we will ship the goods to our forwarders warehouse at the port in China, the forwarder will load the goods onto the ship and will provide the customer with the BOL once the goods are loaded.

Simultaneously we will provide the customer the Commercial Invoice, Packing Slip, & the Certificate of Origin. 2 weeks prior to the goods arriving at their designated port the customer will receive an arrival notice from the freight forwarder and will pay the shipping balance.

We recommend the shipping balance to be paid shortly after the goods are loaded onto the ship to avoid delays once the goods land at the designated port. The balance will be paid direct to the freight forwarder, they will provide the wire transfer information direct to the customer.

Once the balance is paid the shipment will be set to Telex release which will make the shipment free and cleared. The customer will then hire a customs broker to clear the goods from customs with the documentation that was previously provided.

Once the goods have been cleared from customs the customer will arrange the goods to be shipped to their door either by doing a personal pickup, hiring a 3rd party freight carrier or using the customs brokers carrier.

  • SCENARIO 3: This 3rd scenario is for customers seeking to only buy a single unit. This 3rd option applies to USA customers only. What we do in this scenario is take care of all the freight from China to USA, and also handle the customs clearing.

The customer then either can pickup the product direct at the port, have their freight carrier handle it for them or we can recommend a carrier.

This simplifies the process for them although there are delays in shipping due to the fact that we will need to consolidate enough product to ship a container. It is important for the customer to understand that under this scenario an additional 4 to 6 weeks will be added to the lead time.

Do the boats come with a repair kit?
Yes the boats come with a standard patch repair kit. We no longer ship adhesive due to new airline regulations. Inflatable boat adhesive can be found at most Marinas and general marine supply retailer.

Where can I find the general specifications of each boat, for example: the length, width, height, weight, PSI recommendations, motor recommendations, cargo capacity, total air chambers, etc?
All these specifications can be found on our website under each model.

What accessories are available for the boats?
For the boats we offer inflatable seat cushions and foot pumps.

What is the transom?
The transom is the area on the boat where the motor mounts.

I've noticed that some boats have a model A & C what is the difference between these models?
Model A comes with a polycarbonate window and Model C comes with solid flooring.

What is the RapidDeploy™ Quick Release Valve System?
The RapidDeploy™ Quick Release Valve System allows the paddler the ability to quickly adjust the valve setting to maximize the efficiency when pumping up their boat as well as readjusting the setting quickly when deflating.

CLEAR BLUE HAWAII EPOXY SUPs FAQ’s

What kind of cores are used in making Clear Blue Hawaii SUP’s?
Our boards are made using Honey Comb Cluster EPS Cores. EPS is the standard core used now a days in SUP’s in the past board cores where made out of Polyurethane. Honey Cluster EPS Cores is a Clear Blue Hawaii proprietary name.

What are the benefits of EPS vs. PU?
EPS is now used industry wide. The advantages include:

  • Its Lighter
  • Has Better Moisture Wicking Properties
  • It is compatible with Epoxy resin which has better elasticity, adhesion to foam, stronger and lighter than Polyester Resins used in boards with Polyeurathane cores.
  • Since EPS is compatible with Epoxy resin it is also more environmentally friendly and healthier for the work environment emitting 50-75% fewer VOCs (Volitale Organic Compounds)

How are our Epoxy SUP’s manufactured?
We manufacture our boards by first running the blanks through a C&C router, we laser cut, than we apply the finishing by hand.

What is the best board option for a beginner and why?
The best board options for beginners are going to be an 11’6 and 12’0. These boards displace more water due to them being wider. Greater width, equals greater water displacement which translates into stability.

What board sizes are best suited for surfing?
They are all suited for surfing, yet when surfing larger waves (6’ +) you’ll want a board that holds the rail well and does not nose dive as is the tendency with larger boards. For these type of conditions you’ll want a 9’6 or 10’6 depending on your weight. For example if you have a small frame and have a light weight you’ll want to use a 9’6, if you are 100kgs + you’ll want to use a 10’6. The general rule is the smaller the board the easier it will be to turn yet will also tend to be more unstable.

What is the deluxe packaging and why should I consider it?
The deluxe packaging is additional bubble wrap and cartooning which is important especially when ordering less than a container load of product or if you are looking to reship product once you receive. Most times the boards are tranfered from multiple trucks before reaching their final destination.

What is the OEM program?
The OEM program is when we help clients private label the boards meaning they have the ability to place their logos on the boards a long side ours (this is what is called a CO-Branding Effort).

Can the SUP’s be used by a novice paddler?
Yes, our SUP’s have a minimal learning curve. Most paddlers are up and going within minutes.

How well do the SUPs track?
The SUP’s track very well, they have a tri-fin configuration. With the center fin being long similar to what is found with surfing long boards.

How well do the SUP’s handle the UV rays of the Sun?
The SUP’s handle UV rays very well. Like everything proper care must be taken in order to ensure longevity

What are the SUP Lead Times?
The standard lead times are 4 to 6 weeks.

What is the recommended care for the SUP’s?
SUP care is fairly general. Wash with mild soap and fresh water after usage, store in a shaded area and on occasion add lubrication to the stainless steel components.

What comes standard with the SUP’s?
The SUP’s come standard with a Tri-Fin configuration and EVA deck pad.
