The sport of kayaking has increasingly grown around the world for the last 20 years or so. To the point that many novices are wishing to own a kayak rather than renting one out for a day or two. Therefore, we at Bestkayakreviews.net feel duty-bound to provide relevant information about the more popular kayaks in a relatively competitive market.

As such we wish to impart knowledge that is beneficial to consumers in the forms of whether a product is value for money or is the performance of the kayak up to scratch with its competitors. Thus, we utilize 3 areas in identifying a suitable kayak and ranking it accordingly compared to others. These are; Stability, Toughness and Comfort/Luxury.

The LifeTime Tamarack Angler 100 Fishing Kayak is one of the best boats in its class (Sit-on angler kayak) for the price. It provides many different features that would be seen on a Kayak two or three hundred dollars more in value. These include the following; Fishing rod holders, storage compartments, adjustable seat, and a paddle tie.

Specifications of The Kayak

  • Length: 10ft
  • Width: 31in
  • Weight: 52lbs
  • Maximum Capacity: 275lbs
  • Price: $$

Key Features

 Strong Material Hull

The Tamarack 100 fishing kayak has been built to last as the folks from Lifetime has chosen a high-density plastic known as Polyethylene which has properties of being lightweight yet durable. Thus, when comparing the Tamarack 100 to others in its class that have standard plastic hulls, this kayak outmatches them in terms of lightness.

Another positive of using such a material to carve out the hull is that there is very little chance of the boat fracturing from impacts as the plastic properties are so that it has a natural elasticity to it which helps cushion the boat and prevent damage all while absorbing a significant amount of the initial contact and dispersing it around the kayak.

Storage Compartments

The Tamarack Angler 100 fishing kayak does contain several storage areas for which can be located throughout the boat. These compartments can be found at the front and rear of the kayak and are approximately 6” in size. Therefore, providing ample space to secure fishing gear which is not being used instead of holding it between the kayaker’s legs.

Rod Holders

As with the aforementioned storage compartments, the Tamarack Angler 100 fishing kayak does also provide 3 rod holders which are mounted flush to either side of the boat and located on the front right side of the kayak which has the ability to swivel on the mounted rod holder. Needless to say, you will not be sort of holders and places to place rods hopefully results in a greater amount of catches.

Comfortable Back-Supporting Seat

The kayak also has a built-in adjustable seat which helps in supporting the back of the user. This is a welcomed sense of comfort as with many hours potentially being spent on top of the kayak having the ability to seat comfortably posture wise is very important to not only the endurance of the user but also their health as it will decrease back pain while traversing the lakes.

LifeTime Tamarack Angler 100 Fishing Kayak Review

Stability

The LifeTime Tamarack Angler 100 is one stable kayak this can be attributed to the fact that Lifetime has built the kayak with the anglers in mind as the boat is very wide. As with the necessity to stand and also maneuver within the kayak being important having a kayak which both doesn’t rock and compensates for changes in weight transfer for which the Tamarack 100 does. Thus, the kayak also utilizes an extra-wide hull to stop the boat from capsizing easily when either paddling or angling.

This extra width on the bottom of the boat provides a great basis for the fisherman to cast which in turn allows for a more consistent range.

Alongside the extra width, the boat has the feature of chine rails which help the boat from losing its tracking path, therefore, keeping the boat straight on its course.

The only negative that I could come up with while reviewing this boat is the fact that with the boat being very long to some degree it results in poor maneuverability when turning while paddling, though with the boat is mainly used as an angler kayak the ability to change direction quickly should not be an issue as for most of the day the boat will be static.

Toughness

The Tamarack Angler 100 Fishing Kayak is sturdy as they come. With the hull being made out of polyethylene, it helps prevent cracks and chips from impacts while paddling. The hull is also covered in an Ultra-Violent resistant paint which helps maintain the color of the boat while out in the baking sun all day.

Comfort/Luxury

LifeTime is infamous for building kayaks which exude luxury and comfort and this is no different when it comes to this boat. With the Tamarack 100 having several features which help in making life easy and comfortable for the user. These include the functionality of the adjustable seat in order to improve the posture of the kayaker while spending extended amounts of time out on the water.

The storage compartments which provide much need space to secure and keep safe the fishing gear which isn’t being utilized at the current moment. The placement of the rod holders are both functional and provide ease of use while the paddle cradler keeps the paddle secured flush to the side of the kayak while out fishing.

Finally molded footwells provided comfort through being able to adjust the position to most people however I again would not recommend this kayak to those over 6ft 5in as it can get uncomfortable to those individuals.

Summing Up

Thus, the LifeTime Tamarack Angler 100 Fishing Kayak is a sublime boat, full of features all while being great value for money. I would be happy to recommend this to either the most amateur angler or those who are experienced with a rod. However, the boat does have two negatives in the form of both comfortabilities for those who are on the larger side as well as being hard to turn the boat sharply.
